This LONG weekend: Splurge or Save

The long weekend, it’s finally around the corner! So besides the flag hoisting early Saturday morning what’s there do. That’s why I’ve wracking my brains thinking of things to do.
Two whole days that type of freedom rarely comes along  …..But then there’s always the budget factor. So I did what I do best. I made a list of ways to save and ways to splurge this weekend.
So list SAVE has: (this will keep your wallet intact, spending only the bare minimum)
   1. For the movie maniacs- Movie marathons

It is by far the cheapest way of spending your holiday. Sit with your favourite bunch of buddies, stack of movies. Stock up on your popcorn and your soda pop..so that you save up on time pausing movies because there aren’t any commercials J

2. For all the gamers out there- Burnout and Trigger are bound to be packed this weekend. So call ahead and book your spot.

 3.       Attil -   Attil has an exciting meals lined up this republic day, delight your taste buds with a completely Indian menu this year. And you get absolute money worth of your food

4. 4.  Natural’s spa- for all those in need of a relaxation can head to the spa. It has a list of rejuvenating and replenishing treatment for all the spa lovers out there.

5.   St. Mary’s Island- Its for those who just don’t want to laze around this weekend. It’s got absolutely breathtaking view and gives you sanctity from the busy Manipal life.

St. Mary's Island is about 8 kms north of Malpe in Udupi district. The island was formed out of the lava that erupted from the sea millions of years ago. It is thus famous for its basalt rock formation. The Portuguese traveller Vasco-da-Gama landed on the island in 1498 and called it El Pardon de Santa Maria.

Then my next list is for those who plan on doing some serious damage to their pockets. I’ve picked the most perfect destinations to spend this weekend and literally have a blast in this country that we call our own.
  Here comes the SPLURGE list:

 1.       A day in Mangalore

Ok so you might think its blah but a surprisingly large number of movies are releasing this week.
Like.. Hansel and Gretel: witch hunters

And the much awaited Race 2

Vishwaroop (Hindi)

and Midnight’s Children.

2.     Gajalee-

it’s a delight for all your taste buds. Its honestly one place that has the most mouth watering food I’ve ever tasted .From its vegetarian dishes to its fish food this has got to be the best restraunt  in Mangalore

And what’s more its ambience to die for.. its set on a hilltop with a complete indoor and outdoor sky restraunt over looking Mangalore’s skyline and in the night its completely lit and the streetlights of Mangalore add to the millions of stars overlooking this area. Address: gajalee circuit compound, kudri hills, Mangalore

3.   Panambur beach:

it is known as India’s safest beach.  The beach has also received recognition as one of the cleanest beaches in India. And it has eco friendly cottages a few feet away from the beach.

Activities like surfing, dolphin sighting, paragliding, horse riding and camel riding also take place here.
This weekend on the 27th January Euphoria one of India’s bands will be performing here.

4.   Turtle bay-

Located on the scenic Traci Maravanthe area of Karnataka, turtle bay has resorts which offer you the luxury of lounging on the pristine golden sands, amidst the swaying coconut palms and refreshing swims in the sea

It’s also got activities like sea kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving, trekking and backwater river rides.

5.       Coorg-

coorg makes you leave your world behind and step into heaven.
There are beautiful resorts and villas which have indoor and outdoor pools
During the day you can go down to visit the village and its plantations. You can also go for a bird watching tour
and wild river rafting here.

Here's to you all for having a lovely weekend, spent with loved ones with memories that shall last you a lifetime.
Have a safe trip!
Cheers!
